Description
Send Newsletter Emails Through SendPulse SMTP
Shared hosting mail servers are a poor fit for bulk sending. Messages land in spam, get throttled, or vanish without a trace. Newsletter – SendPulse Delivery Addon connects the Newsletter plugin for WordPress to SendPulse, so your campaigns leave through SendPulse’s SMTP service instead of your web server.
Setup comes down to three steps: verify who you send as, paste in your API credentials, and register a webhook. Once that’s done, you also get bounce and complaint notifications back in WordPress, which helps keep your subscriber list accurate.
Key Features
- Sender domain or address verification: SendPulse requires you to verify a domain, or one or more email addresses, before sending. You handle this in the SendPulse SMTP settings, and it’s the mandatory first step.
- API ID and Secret connection: Find or generate both on the SendPulse API page, copy them into the add-on’s configuration page, and run a test to confirm the link works.
- Webhook for bounces and complaints: The add-on can receive notifications about bounces, complaints and similar events, so problem addresses don’t stay unnoticed on your list.
- Consistent sender settings: The add-on works with the sender details you set in the Newsletter plugin’s general settings, including return path and reply-to if you use them.
What It Works With
This is an add-on for the Newsletter plugin for WordPress and doesn’t do anything without it. You also need a SendPulse account, and SendPulse offers a free signup. Everything else, from composing and scheduling to managing subscribers, stays in the Newsletter plugin you already know. The add-on only changes how the emails are delivered.
One detail worth knowing before you start: the sender address in Newsletter’s general settings must belong to a domain or address you’ve verified at SendPulse. That applies to the return path and reply-to too, if you’ve filled them in. A mismatch there is the most common reason a test send fails.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the webhook be created automatically?
No. SendPulse doesn’t offer a way to create it automatically, so you add the webhook by hand in your SendPulse account. Without it, sending still works, but bounce and complaint notifications won’t reach the add-on.
Which sender addresses can I use in the Newsletter plugin?
Only those on a domain, or matching an email address, that you’ve verified with SendPulse. Check the sender field in the Newsletter general settings, and the return path and reply-to fields if they’re in use. If any of them points to an unverified address, SendPulse will not accept the message.
Where do I get the API ID and Secret?
They’re on the SendPulse API page, where you can look up existing credentials or generate new ones. Copy both into the add-on’s configuration page and run the built-in test to confirm the connection before sending a real campaign.
